Brief Description of the Block

Kultali Development Block is one of the 29 blocks of South 24 Parganas and under Baruipur Sub-Division. Kultali is on the bank of Matla River .Total population of this block is 228988 among them 117783 are male and 111205 are female. SC,ST ,OBC and minority population of this block are 118750 ,6184 ,68511 and 50272 .Literacy percentage of this block is 59.74 % .There are one BPHC ,named Joynagar Rural Hospital and four no of PHC and Forty three no. of sub Health center. There are 15 no. of HS ,154 no. of Primary school, 26 no. of upper primary school ,32 no. of SSK and 1 no. of MSK in this block. Main livelihood of this block is cultivation., fishery and cottage industry. There are two forest in the block, namely Chiquri & Nolgara.There are two police station in the block namely Kultali police station and Maipith Coastal police station.

 Kultali Block is bounded by Bay of Bengal & Sundarban forest towards South , Joynagar I & Joynagar II Block towards North , Jynagar II Block towards west and Canning Block towards east . Sonarpur City,Baruipur City are the nearby Cities to Kultali.

Kanyashree :

Kanyashree Prakalpa  is one of its kind initiative taken by the Government of West Bengal to improve the life and the status of the girls by helping economically backward families with cash. The purpose of this initiative is to uplift those girls who are from poor families and thus can’t pursue higher studies due to tough economic conditions.

MGNREGA :

The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Act aims at enhancing the livelihood security of people in rural areas by guaranteeing hundred days of wage employment in a financial year to a rural household. Total Labour budget is 932716. Achievement percentage is 124%.

Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana (PMAY), previously Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY), is a social welfare flagship programme, created by the Indian Government, to provide housing for the rural poor in India. Manik Mondal (SEO) is the nodal officer of IAY.

NSAP is a National Policy for Social Assistance for the poor and aims at ensuring minimum national standard for social assistance in addition to the benefits that states are currently providing or might provide in future.
